St Mary’s Church, Hethersgill

 

 

In 1875[1], Alfred Burder, apparently on his own, entered a competition for a new church in Hethersgill, near Carlisle. Following a review, by a committee, of the sixteen sets of plans submitted, Alfred Burder was placed second, losing out to a design by Messrs. Habershon and Brock, of London
