Sports and Social Club

In 1949, following the example of the town’s larger employees, the firm formed its’ own Sports and Social Club, with the aim of providing the opportunity for “good clean sport where the game is the objective and not the result[1]. Under the enthusiastic presidency of Derek (Frederick G. M.) Burder, with several teams being formed, including whist, darts, football and cricket.
