Cresting

Cresting with 2 Finials

Cresting is an ornamental decoration along the ridge of the roof greenhouse, conservatory, porch or similar horticultural structure. Cresting required a roof line that of a normally of a span-style, very rarely a three-quarters span and obviously never on a lean-to structure, except where there was a span porch entrance.

The firm offered 17 differing types of cast iron ridge cresting, ranging in height from 2in. to 12⅞in, in lengths between 10½in. and 2ft. 7in. and from the rather plain to the very ornate.
